1. I think there are many ways that you can find out information about your students even if you haven't met them. You can always talk to other teachers to see if they had any of your students in the following years or if they have any siblings in the same school.
2. As a teacher, you have to be prepared to have a culturally diverse class. Each student grows up in a different type of household. Some things like eye contact or speaking your opinion are considered rude in some cultures. If their behavior is different than your used to, don't assume they are being rude. When assigning homework that involves a computer, make sure you leave them time to work at school because not all students have the technology at home.

Chapter 8 Case Study
1. Jose wants to make sure his students understand the concept of gravity. He does this by showing them things that they can relate/understand like cartoons.
2. Jose has made sure that all instructions are clear. He has broken them down into steps so that the students don't get confused. To make sure the students understand what he is expecting from him, as a first step to the assignment, he can have them write down what they think they need for the assignment.

Case Study Page 34
1) Each classroom is different. In some cases, there aren't enough computers for everyone to use at once. Another issue while teaching younger children is whether or not to show a video while a lecture is taking place, it could be distracting. Each teacher, I'm sure, wants to make their learning environment to be fun. Using technology in classrooms now is much more common. Children learn to use computers and other technology at very young ages but some maybe be slower than others so trying to figure out the right balance is important.
2) I think that all of these classrooms that could present questions. Above I mentioned that each student learns at a different level. In classroom 3, this is something that comes up. She isn't sure when to show the animation. In classroom 2, the teacher is unsure whether or not she should guide the students to what she thinks they should be researching or allow them to find their own way. This goes along with effects of motivation on effort and goals of the learning process. Will they have the motivation to learn with her assistance along the way or will they only want her to have at all mapped out for them?

Case Study
2. I think its a great idea for teachers to share their ideas. Especially teachers who are ever in Mr. Bustler's case. Also, teachers who have been in the field a long time and would like some new, fresh ideas. Not everyone is tech savvy. The things they learned in school may have changed since they left. To get ideas from young minds and try to make their classes more interesting for their students.
3. My concentration is Elementary Education. To think of ways to incorporate technology for children between the ages of 5-9 seems a little difficult. However I don't think I give children of the new millennium the credit they deserve. A couple things I can think of would be to go to interactive web sites like the map of the USA and find the state they live in and then find where the city is in that state. Learn how to find their house on a map. Another might be to use a paint program and have them draw a place that is special to them or their favorite thing to do. Some programs you can buy in CD/DVD that allows children to answer basic questions about colors and shapes as well as helping them read. To learn about musical instruments and animals while being able to hear the sounds they make. I'm sure as I continue my courses through the years I will learn more options and in the future maybe end up at one of those sessions to get some fresh ideas.
